Kintimit was started with a small idea, which turned into BIG dreams by ever sparkly & stubbornly determined, single mother, Lucia Jackson.

Beginning in 2010 at Jacksons private home, in the eclectic neighborhood of Northside, in Cincinnati Ohio. She recognized the need for a unique & creative place to host private events, focusing on affordable birthday parties for children. Her love for costume design and experience with new store operations, lead to her creating the concept which has budded in to Kintimit Events & Costumes today!!!

July 4, 2010 Jackson gathered 30 of her closest friends, dressing them in her costume collection & designs, they marched in the Northside July 4th parade, to announce that a “new costume and event company was coming to Northside”. Then she diligently started converting the home she owned, just off of the entertainment district, to be the costume & party house she envisioned. Leaving no corner unpainted, the original property housed thousands of costumes & props in three rooms which once served as bedrooms & the attic. This property hosted the many birthday parties, community/family gatherings, late night dance parties and general celebration in the first floor and private backyard. The front room of this property served as Jacksons private design studio, for her ever growing clientele.

Throughout the decade of being in the first property, Kintimit was involved in many local events. Including annual participation in the Northside July 4th parade, PAR Projects Summer Market, PAR Projects Night Market, Rocktails Fashion Show, Fundraising with Apple Street Market, many partnered events with Happen Inc and so much more fun!!! Not to mention, of course, the hundreds and hundreds of costume rentals that came & went through that home over all the years!!! (are you one of the friends from then? Then, shutdowns happened. Well, that took Kintimit down at the knees. Forced with a tough decision about re-opening, Jackson sold the original property to create the working capital she needed to re-open. Kintimit had out-grown the first property, needing more room for inventory and more space to increase the capacity for guests! After selling her home, she spent many months searching for the right location for which Kintimit could live again. A location was found, Kintimit was ready to go in May’22. Unfortunately, after sitting stagnant for 10 months, there were too many obstacles for Jackson in that property and Kintimit was forced to relocate.

Then the process of trying to find another location began, again!!! Which was costly, lengthy and nearly impossible. Jackson was down to the last week of the timeline she had given the company, then while driving around in the rain, crying and trying to figure out what would be next for the future, she stumbled upon the current location “The Kintimit Cottage'“. if given the chance, ask to be told the story about how diligently she maneuvered to get the lease to the property even though another company had applied to occupy the building!

The relocation into the new property started in June 2023, and to say it did not go as planned in the understatement of the year!!! One full storage POD, one full 38-foot RV, four U-Haul loads, about forty car and van loads, and about two-hundred-man hours is what it takes to relocated ten thousand costumes, in case you were wondering. Then, the process of organizing and merchandising was not as smooth as it should have been. AND THEN there were permit issues, in turn not allowing this location to open for Halloween rentals.

Now, with most businesses, if there are permit issues and the Grand Opening is delayed, the business just postpones and opens a week later. With seasonal business such as Halloween, postponing is not an option! These permit issues turned out to be nearly detrimental to the life of Kintimit. And THAT is a long story, which you should ask about sometime when you’re visiting the cottage!

The Final piece of the long awaited Kintimit history, is that the re-Grand Opening will be happening in Spring 2025!

With it being such a long awaited celebration, it is certain to be the celebration of a lifetime!
